Joshua Svaty

Joshua Svaty is a noted author, speaker, and consultant on natural resource and energy issues based in Topeka, Kansas. First elected to the Kansas Legislature in 2002 at the age of 22, Joshua became the 14th Kansas Secretary of Agriculture at the age of 29. He served as a Senior Advisor in the United States Environmental Protection Agency during the Obama Administration, and was Vice President of the Land Institute in Salina, Kansas. He now works with his wife Kimberly in her firm, Gencur Svaty Public Affairs. Joshua co-authored the 2020 Kansas Notable Book "Petroglyphs of the Kansas Smoky Hills" and was a contributing author on the newly released "Kansas Matters: Twenty-First Century Writers on the Sunflower State". He and Kimberly own and operate Free State Farms, a diversified crop and livestock operation in Ellsworth County, where his family has been farming since the 1860s.
