Why become an IPSR affiliate?

Affiliates form a community of social science and policy researchers.

Through events such as luncheons, we seek to build a community of researchers. IPSR’s affiliates have appointments across KU, from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences to the Medical Center, the Libraries, and the Schools of Engineering, Business, and Journalism. This breadth connects scholars who approach complex problems from multiple disciplinary lenses, so affiliates learn about each other’s work and collaborate. Faculty also come together through IPSR’s research centers, each organized around a research topic or approach. Affiliates can nominate graduate students for the IPSR Doctoral Research Fellows program

IPSR offers services for research development and implementation.

IPSR’s staff assists researchers with identifying funding sources, honing research plans, preparing project budgets, and finalizing proposals. Once projects are awarded, IPSR assists with post-award administration and project management, including hiring, purchasing, travel, and reporting. Staff also work with researchers on data analysis, management, and visualization. IPSR staff can provide evaluation services for research projects or programs.

IPSR supports research dissemination.

IPSR staff assist researchers with planning events, including conferences, lectures, and meetings. To help disseminate research results, IPSR promotes affiliates’ newly funded projects and products through its website and on social media. Staff can help set up project websites. IPSR works with KU News to share achievements with the KU community and the public.
