Wally directs the University Center, an EDA designated initiative to create and deliver programs enhancing the economic development of the Midwest, including the RedTire Program, The Catalyst new business incubator, Jayhawk Consulting, and Startup School @ KU to commercialize KU faculty and staff innovations. His research interests include entrepreneurship, education and affordable housing.
Previously, Wally was the founding faculty and Director of KU Entrepreneurship Programs, rated among the top 10% of all US university entrepreneurship programs for four consecutive years. Before initiating the KU Entrepreneurship Center, Wally held several senior management positions at Gillette, Nabisco and Sprint as well as founding/growing four successful startup companies.
